White House clarifies that Obama has no time to visit Golden Temple and Taj Mahal

There were lot of assumptions and discussions were going on whether Golden Temple and Taj Mahal will be included in the schedule of Obama's India visit.



Finally White House has confirmed that US President Barack Obama will not be visiting the Golden Temple in Amritsar and the Taj Mahal at Agra.


It clarifies that Obama has not time to visit Golden Temple and Taj Mahal.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said "We are in India for three days. There's - you could spend a lot longer than that, and obviously anybody would. We picked our schedule based on what we wanted to get accomplished, and that focus was on New Delhi and Mumbai, and that's going to be the focus of our trip."



Anyway, Unofficial sources are saying that Obama’s Amirster visit has been cancelled due to the issues that his head has to be covered with a piece of cloth which could perk up claims that he is a Muslim.

The American Sikh community has said that Obama is not visiting the Golden Temple in Amritsar because he fears of negative image fallout with him being partially Muslim by birth.

The Sikh leaders have urged Obama to at least visit a prominent Sikh shrine in the capital New Delhi.

And, the Sikhs want Obama to raise 1984 riots issue in Indian parliament.
